Breathwork Clinician Training Module 4 – Trauma and Nervous System Regulation

This two-day training provides a fundamental understanding of trauma and how breathwork can be used as a powerful tool for trauma resolution. This is the fifth of 10 levels designed to prepare and qualify attendees to lead breathwork sessions in mental health, addiction, trauma, and eating disorder treatment settings.
• Discussing nervous system dysregulation and regulation through the lens of the polyvagal theory.
• Understanding vagal tone as it applies to trauma resolution.
• Exploring the connection between breathwork and vagal tone.
• Reviewing SAMHSA’s definition of trauma-informed care and the ACE study.
• Learning grounding techniques to use when clients are stimulated/triggered.
• Understanding the benefits of breathwork for nervous system regulation and managing symptoms of physiological disorders, including PTSD.
• Building confidence and proficiency in facilitating breathwork on a 1×1 level (hands-on guidance will be provided).
Upon completion of Breathwork Clinician Training Module 4, attendees will have a foundational understanding of breathwork’s effects on trauma resolution and nervous system regulation.
Time commitment: 15 hours 9am-4:30pm (completed over the course of one weekend)
Each Module includes a one hour lunch and a 15 minute morning break each day.
Breathwork is a proven method of unearthing and resolving trauma, regulating the nervous system, and inspire a lasting sense of well-being. This somatic practice can help your clients overcome nervous system dysregulation and experience a sense of “instant gratification” relief, often after just one session.
This course is designed for mental health professionals, clinicians and students interested in deepening their practice by learning about the benefits of breathwork in working with trauma clients.
Course meets the qualifications for 12.5 continuing education credits for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Breathwork for Recovery is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs. Breathwork for Recovery maintains all responsibility for this program/course and its content. Course Completion certificates will be awarded within 14 days of the end of the course in exchange for a completed evaluation form and passing written examination. CAMFT approved CE provider #146365.
